Change is a constant. In today’s digital world, every organization, every enterprise, every business, every church, every school, every for-profit, every non-profit, essentially every everything, large and small, is subject to constant change. Major companies such as Sears and Kodak have learned the hard way that what worked yesterday doesn’t work today, and we all must realize that what’s working today probably won’t work tomorrow. The truth is that many of us are in situations today that aren’t really working even now, and yet changephobia is rampant. We keep hoping that things will be different while we remain the same and when we are pushed to the brink, knowing that change is the only option, still we hesitate because we’re not sure how to navigate change successfully.
There is a Chinese proverb that wryly states, “Unless we change direction, we are likely to arrive at where we are headed.” Where are you headed? Where is your organization, your business, your team headed? Would you like to change direction?
